Summertime usually calls for spending more time outdoors. Think: hanging out at family barbecues, going to the beach, and drinks al fresco. As such, our beauty shifts to reflect this, and is usually more pared-back to withstand the heat and our busy calendars. The same sentiment applies to our manicures—when it comes to summer nails, the simpler the better, and Kaia Gerber just dropped an easygoing model off-duty manicure we're taking inspiration from all season long.

On May 26, with duffel bags and a coffee in hand (the sign of a classic Memorial Day weekend commute), the 22-year-old looked as chic as ever while spotted in NYC's Soho neighborhood. We know Gerber for her classic laidback street style, and her go-to manicure is just as effortless.

The nail look in question? A simple milky manicure made up of a wash of a sheer cream-colored shade. Short and almond-shaped, her nails had a less-is-more vibe that almost looked like she wasn't wearing polish. It was the perfectly barely-there hue that sat somewhere between tan and eggshell.

It isn't the first time Gerber's donned a milky manicure before—she opted for the classic milky mani at an Omega event last year. If re-wearing an outfit is proof that it checks off all the boxes, re-wearing a manicure confirms its chameleon-esque abilities. A milky manicure, in particular, can look sophisticated when paired with a gown, but laidback when styled with sweats, hence its go-with-everything feel.

The rest of Gerber's outfit was just as simple as her manicure. She wore a blue collared short-sleeve polo from James Street Co, black sweatpants from Brandy Melville, and black ballet flats from Mansur Gavriel. She wore her brown hair natural and wavy and accessorized with large black sunnies and one simple gold ring.

Next time you head to the salon take inspiration from Gerber with a similar less-is-more milky manicure.
