It's the year of simple nails at the Cannes Film Festival. Even when paired with daring gowns in bold colors or sheer textures, simple nail styles are an easygoing addition that add to the cohesiveness without stealing the spotlight. Bella Hadid wore a super sheer YSL dress but paired it with a simple latte brown nail. Selena Gomez paired her custom Giambattista dress with a perfect red nail. And, most notably, Demi Moore has worn her barely-there milky manicure throughout the entire festival; with a Schiaparelli gown, a striped sundress, and now her latest neon look for the Chopard "Once Upon A Time” event.
On May 21, Moore arrived at the Chopard event to award the annual Trophée Chopard, which was given to Mike Faist and Sophie Wilde. For the event, Moore wore a neon yellow Oscar De La Renta gown that was accented with 3D flowers at the waist and styled with matching earrings. The tiniest, but most impactful detail was her soft milky manicure.
Milky manicures have grown in popularity as of late, but they've always been a staple. They feature a sheer wash of polish in a pink, nude, or white shade that sometimes still reveals the nail beds. The actress painted an opaque layer of a tan nude shade on her natural nail shape, which is slightly oval. It was a minor detail but added a layer of put-togetherness to Moore's garden-esque ensemble.
The rest of her beauty was similarly pared-back, with the dress taking center stage. She wore her silky long hair straight (we'd love any insight on how she gets her hair so shiny, please) and it rested on her back. Her makeup was super simple and soft. A swipe of brown eyeshadow and mascara complimented her green eyes, and a bronzy glow illuminated her cheeks. Last, but not least, she wore pink lipgloss that matched with her pink Louboutins.
If Moore's look isn't proof that the milky manicure can go with anything, we don't know what is. It's the perfect pretty nail style to wear all summer long.
