Elsa Hosk has always been a fashion girl. She's one of many iconic models to come out of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show era, and since then, she's started her chic clothing line Helsa and just dropped a collaboration of Eurosummer-ready swimwear with Heavy Manners. Aside from her cool-girl street style, her minimalist-yet-daring aesthetic on the red carpet is always worth paying attention to. Case in point: Hosk just wore a sleek, supermodel-worthy dress for Cannes this year with a classic, Parisian red manicure.
Last year, the 35-year-old arrived at Cannes in an iconic Viktor and Rolf couture dress that gave the illusion of the dress falling off her body. It was one of the most exciting style moments to come out of the film festival, and while her look this year is more pared-back, it's still undeniably cool. On May 21, Hosk arrived at the Parthenope red carpet in a semi-sheer YSL gown that had an open back. The dress was simple, and she styled it with lots of Tiffany & Co. gold jewelry. That being said, there's no better way to accessorize than with a red manicure.
Hosk posted a close-up of her manicure a few days before the festival, showing off her trip to Italy on Instagram. A true mark of an It Girl is an effortless vibe, and knowing that the multi-hyphenate bopped her way around Europe only to land in Cannes with the same manicure proves her status as such. Her manicure is nothing out of the ordinary, however, her simple glossy red nails felt cohesive to her entire look.
Selena Gomez also wore a similar manicure to the festival, and a bevy of stars including Dua Lipa have styled red nails as of late. Of course, they're a classic, however, it seems as though minimalist manicures will be more popular for the summer.
Hosk's glam matched the sleek, Bond-girl vibe of her outfit and manicure. She styled her "It Girl blonde" hair into a super-high pony that had a piece of her hair wrapped around the base in the place of a hair tie. Her ends were curled for a glamorous touch, and the entire look was courtesy of hairstylist Danielle Priano. Her eye makeup, by Hung Vanngo, was smoky and contrasted with her ultra-blonde eyebrows. Her eye look was the centerpiece with a slight swipe of bronzer and a nude lip complimenting it.
It's official: every cool girl is wearing red nails this summer. Next time you need a boost of confidence, start with painting a red manicure.
