Selena Gomez's Moulin Rouge-Inspired Makeup Is Her Most Dramatic Look Yet

We're obsessed.

Helming a cosmetics company as successful and trendy as Rare Beauty obviously takes a makeup muse. So, it's no shock whenever Selena Gomez is seen in a new out-of-the-box makeup look. Her Instagram is full of replica-worthy glam moments, from bright cherry red lips with dramatic cat eyes to glossy lips with smoky eyesfluffy feathery brows. Her most recent makeup moment, though, is one of her most adventurous—a Moulin Rouge-inspired glam with all the drama you would expect from a look channeling the iconic film and Parisian cabaret.

While in Paris for Fashion Week, Gomez was seen in a handful of looks that have since gone viral online, including a matching makeup moment with bestie Nicola Peltz-Beckham. However, one of our favorites was the aforementioned Moulin Rouge glam she wore on September 27, done by makeup artist Avia Solomon.

The look's sultry red shades and exaggerated lashes gave it that theatrical "Lady Marmalade" flair. Gomez's lips were a bright cherry red, and slightly overlined just a little for extra drama. On her eyes was a complimentary red shade, dusted from the inner corner to the tip of her thin cat eyeliner, continuing up towards her brow. The shadow was finished off with a touch of gold shimmer, and a pair of wispy black lashes.

A generous amount of pink blush and soft matte "cloud skin" finished off the look. Hairstylist Dom Seeley swooped and swirled her baby hairs before twisted Gomez's hair into an elaborate sculpted bun. A single curl trailed down the back of her head, matching the drama of her makeup.

Both the iconic Moulin Rogue cabaret and the film it inspired are full of showy burlesque looks that call on sultry shades like red and pink. Red lips were a staple for Nicole Kidman in the 2001 film, just as they were for Lil Kim, Christina Aguilera, and P!nk in the "Lady Marmalade" music video that accompanied the movie. Plus, with cherry red being fall's hottest color our never-ending obsession with all things Y2K, and Gomez's Parisian surroundings, the look couldn't have come at a better time

Gomez finished her showgirl-inspired ensemble with chunky, silver triangle hoops and small silver studs, a black Versace dress with gold detailing, and a black leather jacket on top to stay warm.
