Sabrina Carpenter doesn't stray from her signature makeup style, and why would she? Her ultra-glowy complexion and flushed pink cheeks went viral for a reason: It's girly, it's pretty, and it perfectly captures Carpenter's youthful vibe. Yet, Paris Fashion Week is the place to make a statement (hello, Rihanna and Joey King!) and a statement she made. The singer switched up her usual glam for a rare bold lip look while simultaneously making her runway debut.
On June 23, the Vogue World event—a runway show that celebrated fashion's historical silhouettes— kicked off Paris Fashion Week. Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid opened the runway on horseback, and Carpenter made her runway debut with Jacquemus, who dressed the singer in a'vintage-inspired candy-striped ensemble paired with matching red lipstick.
The 25-year-old kept some aspects of her typical glam like her pearlescent glowy cheeks and pink blush, but instead of her usual glossy pink lip look, she opted for a chic matte red lip. The shade of red wasn't your typical bright fire-hydrant color—it was a deep cherry shade that matched the stripes on her top. (We tracked down the exact shade, Pat McGrath's Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil in Garnet Glow.) To finish the look off, she tied her curtain bangs back into a matching striped hair kerchief which tied the summery, retro feel of the look together.
Each section of the show was a homage to a certain era of style. Jacquemus dressed Carpenter and others in looks inspired by '40s swimwear. For the show, she wore a red and white striped bustier top with a sheer red skirt and red open-toed mules.
Adding a pop of color with red lipstick has been an ongoing trend as the warmer months begin to pick up. Anya Taylor-Joy also styled the shade with a Jacquemus look during Cannes, and Taylor Swift recently swapped her signature red for a darker shade. It's official: According to Carpenter, all you need for Euro summer is red lipstick, a hair kerchief, and a bold swimsuit
