Kim Kardashian Says Her New Highlighters Give Her an "Ethereal Glow"

Kim Kardashian doesn't follow trends; she sets them. Soon enough, the entire world catches on... but not before the marketing genius finds a way to sell the vision herself. Take her recent makeup looks, for example. There's a reason Skkn's new launches are reminiscent of what's showing up on fresh faces everywhere.

"Every beauty product I use, I want to bring to market," Kardashian tells Byrdie. "I’ve been going for a more dewy glam look recently, and these formulas were developed with ingredients that work to hydrate and comfort skin while adding luminosity and glow."

The new, simply-named products, released into the world on June 21, include Lip Gloss (a "cushiony, lightweight lip gloss that hydrates, comforts, and coats lips in a soft wash of color") and Highlighter ( a "hybrid gel-powder highlighter that effortlessly sculpts, shapes, and defines features with luminous pearlescent pigment").

Lip Gloss is available in a selection of 10 shades, all nudes that range from a light beige to a rich mahogany. The creamy Highlighter has three options: the pale pink champagne Rose Glow, soft golden pearl Honey Glow, and warm bronzed gold Golden Glow.

The Inspiration

In case you haven't checked Instagram in a minute, the reality star has been "going for a dewy, skin-first look—keeping it really light and natural."

"Our new Skkn Lip Glosses and Highlighters work to bring out skin’s natural radiance," explains the founder. Thus, the Highlighter and Lip Gloss are perfect for creating that "ethereal glow."

The Formulas

Let's start with the glosses, shall we? "Our lightweight Lip Gloss is packed with natural oils to hydrate and comfort lips—it's never-sticky and leaves lips feeling smoother and softer," says Kardashian while discussing her favorite thing about the product. The silky formula is thanks to the inclusion of a botanical oil blend, avocado oil, and castor seed oil, all of which help strengthen the lips' barrier function, smooth, and prevent moisture loss.

And those highlighters? Rich in emollients, the formula glides on easy for comfy wear all day long, whether you find yourself frolicking through a field or studying for the Bar exam.

Kardashian simply uses her fingers to apply and blend in the product. "I love how our highlighter combines the smooth application of a liquid with the feather-light feel of a powder for a radiant finish while giving comfortable, all-day wear," she says. "I sweep it across the high points of my face, making sure to hit my cheek bones, brown bones, and Cupid’s bow! I also like to apply it to my collarbones for additional definition."

Her Summer Makeup Go-Tos

"I really try to just enjoy the process of versus feeling pressure to follow any trends," says Kardashian of her summer beauty vibe. "My style and inspiration constantly changes, and I feel my makeup looks reflect this."

She did share her go-to summer lip combo: "If I’m in a rush and can only put on one thing, it’ll be a little liner and my new Lip Gloss in Nude 03 (a neutral pink nude) to create a quick lip," she says. "It gives a soft, sheer wash of color. if I’m going for a more glam look, I’ll apply multiple coats to amplify shine and deepen pigment, or I’ll layer it over my Soft Matte Lip Color."
