We put Solawave's Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy & Serum Kit to the test after receiving a complimentary sample from the brand. Keep reading for our full product review.

Few skincare treatments have established their credentials as firmly as red light therapy (RLT). Beloved by skincare enthusiasts and found on the menus of nearly every spa and esthetics center, RLT improves the appearance of your skin by reducing wrinkles, scars, redness, and acne by using low-wavelength red light.

While I'm a big advocate of treating oneself, spending money every month for a facial treatment can be expensive. And just as I thought, "there has to be a better way," voila: I discovered the Solawave Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy & Serum Kit. Celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, Megan Fox, Lil Nas X, and Sydney Sweeney have given it rave reviews, so I gave it a try. Keep reading to follow me on my Solawave RLT journey and to find out if the device is worth the hype.

About My Skin: Dry skin and prone to blemishes

If I had to describe my skin in two words, it would be dry and sensitive. I get a breakout here and there when I am stressed or use an irritating product. While I don't use skincare tools every single night, I'll gua sha or use an ice roller a few times a month.

How to Apply: Nightly

The instructions for the Solawave Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy & Serum Kit recommend using the device every night for five minutes when you first start. Then, you can gradually increase the time to about thirty minutes. Your face has to be washed and dried before applying the serum. You're instructed to apply a mask-like layer of serum, as the wand is used best on hydrated skin. I learned that you have to use a light touch when using the wand, and you should avoid dragging it harshly across your skin.

I started with my Fresh Beauty Soy Cleanser, patted my face, and let it air dry for a few seconds. Then I applied the serum, which is lightweight and not sticky. The first thing I noticed when the wand touched my skin was that it felt cooling, but that was probably due to the serum, which allowed the wand to move smoothly around my face. After about two minutes, my face started to warm up due to the wand, so I decided that was enough for the first time. As I kept using it, I increased the time, but five minutes was the highest I went.

The Results: Hydrated and smooth skin

I did not see a difference after first use, but the serum felt hydrating on my skin, and my face felt smoother when I touched it. After the third day, I noticed that my skin had an extra glow, my redness had slightly decreased, and a blemish was starting to go away. I was shocked at how this little device had made such an impact on my skin.

After two weeks of using the Solawave Wand & Serum, I was thoroughly impressed: The redness in my face and puffiness near my eyes had significantly decreased, I barely had any new blemishes, and my skin felt smoother. I also noticed an overall tightening and glow of my skin.

How to Use: With a light hand

My best advice is to move the wand lightly across your face in an upward and outward motion, gradually covering your forehead, cheeks, under eyes, jaw, neck, and upper lip. My skin soaks up products quickly; if yours does the same, apply a good amount of serum to keep it hydrated while using the wand. You can always reapply if needed.

The Value: Worth the investment

The Solawave Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy & Serum Kit retails at $181, which is relatively affordable compared to other red light therapy tools on the market. The wand is super easy to use, and if you have a busy schedule like me, it is a great way to incorporate red light therapy into your routine.

The downside is that you have to use a serum because the wand works with hydrated skin. You can use the one in the kit or any water-based serum. Still, the Solawave serum has excellent, hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and blue tansy oil.

An important factor that separates Solawave from the competition is that the Solawave wand is a 4-in-1 skincare tool. You get red light therapy, which helps to rejuvenate and lessen the appearance of fine lines and sun damage, microcurrent that promotes smooth skin and aids in reducing signs of aging, low-vibration facial massage to reduce puffiness, and therapeutic warmth to reduce redness and help the absorption of skin care products.

It is not a budget-friendly device, but it has clinically proven results for skin rejuvenation and is an excellent alternative to spending over a thousand dollars on spa treatments.

Final Verdict

The Solawave Skincare Wand with Red Light Therapy & Serum Kit has been a fabulous addition to my skincare routine. My skin feels smooth, and I noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin within a few days. It's like getting a spa treatment right in my own home.
