Gabrielle Union's Summer Manicure Features Tiny Little Clouds

In the manicure dictionary, things aren't always what they seem. Strawberry milk nails don't feature literal strawberries, and glazed-donut manicures don't have anything to do with donuts. So typically, when we reference the cloud manicure, we're talking about a sheer white, minimal manicure that looks as soft as a cloud—but not today. Gabrielle Union put her twist on the trend and turned her nails into tiny little skies, transforming the cloud manicure as we know it.

On May 26, Union posted a slideshow to her Instagram at the WNBA Chicago Sky game (hence, the sky-inspired mani). The 51-year-old's chic outfit consisted of a black vest crop top with baggy jeans from Off White. Her maximalist nails added a pop of fun to her otherwise pared-back look.

Crafted by Thuy Nguyen, the manicure featured a mid-length almond-shape. Each nail was painted with a pretty turquoise blue color, and it looks as though a chrome powder was added to give each nail a glassy sheen when caught in the light. The nails were dotted with little white blobs that resembled clouds in the sky. It was the perfect homage to the team while still looking like a piece of art on it's own.

The actor's nails were the most maximalist part of her look. She parted her hair down the middle and added pretty waves that rested on her shoulders, courtesy of hairstylist Justin Revenge. Working with makeup artist Troye Antonio, Union opted for a two-toned pink glossy lip, with a pink blush warming up her cheeks and used a similar pinky shade with a bit of sparkle for her eyeshadow. Her fluttery lashes tied the look together.
